In the wake of numerous challenges in recent years, Sri Lanka has demonstrated remarkable resilience, giving rise to a renewed spirit of optimism for the first time in several seasons. This is especially evident on the south coast, which is preparing for the launch of Gourmet Galle. Born from the highly anticipated return of the Galle Literary Festival on the 25 January (making its post-pandemic return), indicating a renewed cultural confidence in the region.
The inaugural Gourmet Galle food festival features 13 internationally recognised chefs in a series of culinary events taking place over 12 weekends through to the end of March, set in the most picturesque properties in the region. Among the participants are culinary luminaries such as Karan Gokani, renowned for his Hoppers cookbook and three London restaurants, alongside celebrity chefs such as Mark Hix.
